Only once did we have a mini melt down and even then we were able to re-direct successfully with a "let's have some chocolate" break. It was really helpful to have a game plan with my husband on the strategy of extra hugs and touches. Our son doesn't ask for attention or love when he needs it so we have to be very mindful to give it to him. We have always had a 30 minute wait between gifts but have let them continue to play if they were happy and not asking to open another one.
